> West Lafayette's Sagamore West Farmers Market to run May 6 to October 28
>
> The Sagamore West Farmers Market in West Lafayette, now in its fifth year,
> will operate from 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays from May 6 through October
> 28, reports Kathleen Mills, market manager.
>
> Held in Cumberland Park off Salisbury Street, the market will feature dozens
> of vendors offering products grown or made in Indiana, and will include
> vegetables, fruits, meats, herbs, flowers, baked goods, and arts and craft
> items.
>
> "Our focus will be on the theme, 'Green and Lean,'" Mills said. "Not just
> green vegetables, but a greener environment, achieved by buying local, using
> recyclable bags and taking other environmentally conscious actions."
>
> The first 500 shoppers to visit the market's information booth three times
> will receive a free tote bag with a carrot image. The market also will
> feature how-to and educational activities throughout the season. On opening
> day, a representative of Bloomers Greenhouse will give a demonstration on
> growing herbs in containers. Grilling demonstrations using market produce
> will be held the third Wednesday of every month.
>
> Sagamore West Farmers Market is sponsored by West Lafayette Parks and
> Recreation and the Sagamore West Area Business Alliance Farmers Market
> Committee. This is the second year of operations with marketing support from
> a U.S. Department of Agricultural grant.
